Crusaders Top Tampa, 3-2

The Columbia Crusaders did just enough to sneak past the Tampa Crocodiles, 3-2, at Freedom Lake. Columbia pitcher Jay Morrison, in particular, had a standout performance. In 8 innings, Morrison surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Alex Flores earned the save, his 1st, for the Crusaders.
Columbia used the timely hitting of Jose Serrano to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crusaders on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Tampa manager Lookie Wookie said following the tough loss.
The second-place Crusaders have won 10 in a row.
