Iron Benders Edge Cavaliers, 5-4
|
The Pacific City Iron Benders topped the Columbus Cavaliers, 5-4, in Frontier League action at Huntington Park. The standout performance belonged to Pacific City pitcher and Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, native Jeff Bjorling. Joe Schultz, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. Columbus's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Pacific City relied on the hitting of Chris Sircy to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Iron Benders on top, 2-1. For the game, Sircy had 1 triple and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"If we keep winning the close games," Sircy said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
