Iron Benders Earn 6-2 Win Versus Anchorage
The Pacific City Iron Benders topped the Anchorage Whalers, 6-2, with catcher Steve Martinson playing a big role. Martinson was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Iron Benders in the win. Pacific City has now won 3 in a row.

The Whalers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Iron Benders going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Carlos Portales came to the plate. Portales hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch fastball from Anchorage hurler Felipe Gallegos. It was Portales's 10th double of the year.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Martinson.
