Mavericks Top Sacramento, 5-4
|
The Phoenix Mavericks had to overcome a big game from Sacramento left fielder Bobby Renzi to leave Chasefield with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Renzi went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Phoenix reliever Andres Pedroza, now 1-6. The loser was Kareem James. The win puts Phoenix at 21-38.
The Mavericks relied on designated hitter Jared Stevens for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"It was a good effort all around," said Stevens.
