The Pacific City Iron Benders stopped the Anchorage Whalers, 5-3, at Grounds. The Iron Benders got a big game from Carlos Portales, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Kelvin Rivera converted his 9th save in 10 tries. Pacific City now has a record of 34-27 with the win.

Jason McKay, the 33-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. McKay contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Pacific City up, 3-1.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Portales told the Pacific City Citizen.
