Monongahelas Come Back Late to Top Mystique, 7-3
|
The Pittsburgh Monongahelas topped the Music City Mystique, 7-3, with first baseman Chris Zartarian playing a big role. Zartarian went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for the Monongahelas in the win. Austin McCafferty notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-0. The win gives Pittsburgh a season record of 32-32.
Had Tim Honeycutt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Honeycutt hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Monongahelas.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Honeycutt. "And not try to do too much."
