Cavaliers Jolt Monongahelas, 3-2, with Late Rally
|
The Pittsburgh Monongahelas got a superb performance from pitcher Rayford Craig. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Columbus. The Cavaliers won the game, 3-2. Craig threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Columbus reliever Justin Morris picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Juan Mireles was saddled with the loss. Columbus raised its record to 37-31 with the win.
Columbus took a 3-2 lead on Dave Redinger's 24th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Pittsburgh pitcher Juan Mireles in the bottom of the eighth.
Afterward, Cavaliers manager Lookie Wookie was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
