Rubio K's 11 En Route to 2-0 Missionaries Win
|
Jim Rubio never let Columbus get something going. The Salt Lake City right-hander commanded his splitter in pitching the Missionaries to a 2-0 win. Sergio Guzman recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 11 for 13. The 5th-place Cavaliers have lost 4 straight games.
Rubio was the winning pitcher. He raised his season record to 7-7. In 8 innings of work, Rubio gave up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 11. The Cavaliers were never able to generate much offense.
"I had a good game plan," said Rubio. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Lookie Wookie said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
