Missionaries Edge Wheat City in Pitching Duel
|
The Salt Lake City Missionaries got a strong performance from pitcher Johnny Sanchez, who stymied the Wheat City offense en route to a win, 1-0, at Wheat Field. In 6.1 innings, Sanchez surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Salt Lake City, with the win, is 7-2.
Mike Eaton, the 23-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Eaton contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Salt Lake City up, 1-0.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Sanchez told the Salt Lake City Times.
