The Hamilton Hitters began the 2056 season with a convincing 5-4 win over the Columbia Crusaders at Swiss Chalet Stadium. Most impressive was Hamilton second baseman Rob Stepheson, who was 4 for 7 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Hamilton reliever Estevan Hernandez got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Alex Flores was tagged with the loss.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 14th. With one out, Stepheson hit a fastball from Alex Flores for a run-scoring single. The Hitters, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Stepheson told the Hamilton Chronicle.
