Revolution 5, Brawlers 1
|
The New York Revolution topped the Brooklyn Brawlers, 5-1, with center fielder John Miske playing a big role. Miske hit 2 home runs for the Revolution in the win. Picking up the win was Sergio Jaramillo. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 4. Jeffrey Rogers closed the game out for New York, earning his 1st save.
The Brawlers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Revolution going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old catcher Justin Kay came to the plate. Kay hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Brooklyn hurler Nick Forte. It was Kay's 14th double of the year.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Kay told the New York Herald.
The second-place Revolution go to 33-27.
