Raiders Shut Out Missionaries, 3-0
|
Tuscon Raiders pitcher Jake Shelfer was in fine form, leading his team past the Salt Lake City Missionaries, 3-0. Shelfer picked up the win for Tuscon, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. Hector Lizardi got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Eric Kercher dealt the Missionaries a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Tuscon leading 1-0, Kercher, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2047 draft, hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
Afterward, Raiders manager Lookie Wookie was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Missionaries, now 5-11, continue their sluggish start.
